about
Stoopid originated from a tapeloop experiment. I cut and looped the tape of a cassette for 6 seconds and recorded single chord on it with a digital wavetable synthesizer. I then crushed the tape in my hand to create "jumps" and crackles that would be played by the reading head of the cassette player and recorded them dry and raw. When such technique is used, the loop isn't being playing on a click or a grid, it's freely evolving and looping which is perceived as a random or uneven pattern.
Through the whole Zouj project I'm trying to make my machines sound human by emulating errors, randomness and tempo ups-and-downs while I'm trying my best as a human to sound like a machine.
